Monkey Park Iwatayama
In Kyoto there is a Monkey Park that is a fun attraction to see if you’re in the area.
Upon arrival to the Monkey Park, you pay a small fee for entry. In exchange for the fee, you are given an informational pamphlet and let loose to ascend the mountain. Right before the walk to the the top of Monkey Park, there are a couple vending machines.
TIP: This will be your last opportunity for beverages before you come back down!
A 15 minute walk up the hill will reward you with a view from the top of Monkey park. The walk includes some stairs, as well as a group of dirt switchbacks that lead to the top.

TIP: If it has recently rained it may be muddy. Plan accordingly.
Once at the top, there is a hut where you can enter and feed the monkeys for a fee. They love bananas!
You can sit on a bench and take in the view of Kyoto if monkeys aren’t your thing. If it is a clear day you should try your eye by approaching the map of the city at the lookout point.
Are you able to see each landmark? Try your best!
You can take a photo as a monkey too!

Monkey Park is highly recommended. Obviously the monkeys are very cool, and I believe the view is the real reason to go. There are many towers throughout Japan, where you can view the city. What makes monkey park stand out is that you are viewing Kyoto from a hill- something not made by man.
