Traveling While In University: Japan
After I left South Korea in October of 2014 I went to Japan. I found getting connected in Japan to be equally as accessible as well as cheaper when compared with South Korea. With that said, in Japan making time for school was a different beast than in South Korea.
When I first landed to Japan I had to learn how to get connected while in the country. It turned out, that compared to South Korea, there was ample opportunities for free internet connection in Japan. The first couple weeks I would do my schoolwork at a 7-11 using their free Wi-Fi. I would stay in internet cafes so I did my school work in the internet cafe. Really where ever I could do it, or more so when ever I needed to do it, I’d be able to.
In Japan I quickly got involved with a local hostel in Tokyo where I took part in work exchange. In South Korea I was on my own schedule. In Japan, I was a worker, I mean volunteer. I had daily duties and would go out almost daily with travelers and coworkers. The hostel where I stayed was quite busy, so I mainly did my school work in the common areas in the middle of the night when everyone had gone to sleep.
Since I spent most of my time in Tokyo, I did not have the same issue with daily changing locations and needing to find new internet connections for my classes. My main issue was making time for my school.
I finished my semester while I was in Japan and took my final the first week of December. With that done, I had successfully traveled the world and gone to school. I was one step closer to getting a four year degree, and I had just explored two amazing countries. The road continues.
